Phuket Tourist Association (PTA) was established under the Trade Association Act 1966 and is currently under the supervision of the Department of Business Development Phuket Province.   PTA is established in order to promote businesses in Phuket that are directly related to tourism such as hotels, transportations, foods and beverages, souvenir shops as well as entertainment and recreational businesses.

Founded on July 28, 1978, PTA was initially run by Mr. Vijit Na Ranong as the 1^st President.  More than 500 organisations were members of PTA since 1978.  Nowadays, PTA has 281 members of which 213 are ordinary members and 68 are extraordinary members.
